Since Coach Trask’s arrival at UIC in January 2005, UIC Soccer has gone from a record of 5-12-2 in 2004 to a national ranking as high as #6 during the 2006 season.  UIC earned the Horizon League Regular Season Title and an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, where the Flames advanced to the second round during the 2006 season.  The 2007 season saw UIC make an historic run to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men’s Division I Soccer Tournament and finish the season ranked #10 in the country.  Seniors Pavle Dundjer and Cesar Zambrano were also selected to 2008 Major League Soccer Combine.  The attractive and entertaining style of soccer has resulted in an attendance increase of 675%.

UIC Assistant Coach Sean Phillips, who joined Coach Trask in February 2005, serves as the Assistant Director of the UIC Soccer Camp.   "Sean's background and coaching pedigree speaks volumes of where this program is headed," said Coach Trask.

Former Indiana University All-American and Major League Soccer standout Aleksey Korol joined the UIC soccer staff prior to the 2006 season as an assistant coach. Korol brought championship credentials to UIC, finishing his playing career as the leading point scorer in NCAA Tournament history and the fourth-highest point scorer in the illustrious history of IU soccer.

Tending to the bumps and bruises of the UIC soccer team is assistant athletic trainer Noreen Karadsheh. Karadsheh, a 2002 graduate of UIC, spent a year and a half at DePaul University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer before returning to UIC in January of 2005.  At DePaul she was responsible for the men’s and women’s soccer teams and the track & field squad.
